A Plan for the City’s Current Needs, Informed by the Community
We have met with hundreds of community members and residents to listen and learn about their needs and those of the community at large. In countless conversations there is a common thread: a desire to break the cycle of economic and social disenfranchisement in communities of color and underserved communities, and support the quality of life improvement in our surrounding neighborhood.
That’s why, more than a year before we formally submitted our plans to the State, we began investing millions in support of more than 40 local philanthropies and service organizations. This was done both to reinforce our commitment to Manhattan’s West Side and to deepen our understanding of the needs within this vibrant community.
Community Engagement
The plan to build Hudson Yards West has always been flexible and rooted in community engagement. After hundreds of meetings with local residents and organizations including tenant associations, nonprofits, union leaders and more, this once-in-a-generation opportunity will deliver substantial benefits for New York City and address the needs of the neighborhood. In every market in which we operate, our mission is twofold: to build stronger and more resilient communities that our employees can proudly call home, and to bolster the reputation of our home communities as world-class centers of tourism that guests will travel the world to experience.
