Safety & Security is Our Top Priority
As an addition to one of Manhattan’s fastest-evolving neighborhoods, Wynn New York City recognizes that its role in safety and security will be integral not only to its resort, but also to Hudson Yards and the surrounding Midtown Manhattan neighborhood. Like many of our neighbors, both residents and businesses, Related Companies already has committed a significant investment to the area with Hudson Yards. With Wynn New York City, Related and Wynn Resorts essentially will be doubling down on that investment.
Wynn and Related Companies will invest their considerable resources to ensure safety and security are paramount for the resort, the Hudson Yards complex, and the surrounding neighborhoods. An improved pedestrian infrastructure — including widened sidewalks, enhanced lighting, and designated crosswalks will similarly prioritize safety and upgrade the overall experience in personal and professional security.
Wynn's Expert Security Model
Wynn Resorts has established a solid and widely respected security model that consists of multiple entities, forming a layered system responsible for the deterrence, detection, and response to any security-related incident in and around any of its resorts. The Wynn Security Department will provide a consistent security platform 24 hours a day, overseen by a highly skilled and experienced management team. Wynn’s security team is comprised of former federal and local law-enforcement officers, former FBI agents, former counter-terrorism operators and embassy security guards, and former members from all branches of the U.S. military, including Special Operations. Safety of both individuals and the surrounding area will be the first priority for every member of Wynn New York City’s Security Team.
Our Security Experience at Encore Boston Harbor
When Wynn Resorts’ Encore Boston Harbor opened in Everett, Massachusetts (adjacent to Boston), a study by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission revealed that violent crime did not increase in the 21 surrounding communities following the opening of the casino. Increases in minor crime were attributed to the increase in visitor volumes — which were consistent with any new tourist attraction — while a crackdown on crime by resort security in the area also impacted the overall numbers. In other studies, reductions in violent crimes have been associated with the increase in full-time employment and good-paying, union jobs associated with casino resorts.
Anti-Human Trafficking
Wynn Resorts’ record in training and addressing anti-human trafficking is second to none. Wynn’s extensive employee training program, produced in close partnership with iEmpathize, is positively regarded by local law enforcement and has been offered to competitors as a basis for their own training programs. All Wynn employees are trained in the program to ensure company procedures are practiced with a victim-centric and empathetic understanding of the risks of human trafficking. The Company maintains a zero-tolerance policy for human trafficking and uses plain-clothes security to root out any illegal activity at its resorts. As part of this approach, Wynn partners with local law enforcement and community-based victim’s advocate organizations to provide a timely and trauma-informed response to potential victims of human trafficking identified on property, which includes ensuring a victim advocate is present on-site within 45 minutes. An executive of Wynn Resorts also serves as the co-chair of the Nevada Resort Association’s Anti-Human Trafficking Working Group.
Security Policies at Wynn Resorts
No weapons of any kind are allowed to be carried by guests at any Wynn resort. Likewise, Wynn Resorts strictly enforces a drug-free experience across its resorts, even if legal within the state. Consistent with all Wynn Resorts, Wynn New York City employees also will be trained in anti-human trafficking, sexual harassment and sexual assault prevention, alcohol awareness and over-intoxication, underage drinking and gambling, and compulsive gambling. Wynn Resorts adheres to the American Gaming Association’s Code of Conduct for Responsible Gaming and pledges to make responsible gaming an integral part of its daily operations.
